Job Description

Santa Cruz Permaculture Farm seeks team members to run our booth at regional farmers’ markets and our on-site farm stand. Typically, farmers market shifts are 7:30am-2:00pm and farm stand shifts are 10am-4pm. This is a physically and socially demanding position requiring heavy lifting and a lot of sales and customer service. Marketeers will need to be in good physical health condition to carry out the required labor responsibilities as the job involves repetitive tasks and standing for long periods of time. As a regenerative, organic teaching farm, we welcome diverse applicants with a desire to learn new agricultural skills to take back to their home communities.

Santa Cruz Permaculture provides community development, land stewardship, holistic education, farming, and eco-social design services for a thriving, just and sustainable world. We teach courses on topics such as permaculture design, permaculture food forestry, herbalism, and more. We also offer permaculture consultations and landscape design services. Location

Santa Cruz Permaculture farm is located near Davenport, CA and our target audience is the greater San Francisco Bay Area & Monterey Bay Area. We have a warehouse on the westside of Santa Cruz. Our farmers markets are throughout the greater Monterey and San Francisco Bay Areas.

Responsibilities

• Loading, driving, and unloading a delivery vehicle
• Retail sales and cash handling
• Detailed recordkeeping
• Maintain order and cleanliness at SCP Farm
• Take photos and videos for SCP marketing

Required Qualifications

• Familiarity with permaculture, and Santa Cruz Permaculture
• CA Driving License
• Clean driving record
• Able to lift and carry 50 pounds
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
• High level of attention to detail and time management
• Dependable with thorough follow through; Trustworthiness
• Ability to receive and willingly integrate constructive feedback
• Ability to work within a team and with a high level of autonomy

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in farmers markets, sales, retail, and customer service

Hours and Pay

• This position is a minimum of two 8 hour days (16 hours) per week. Hourly rate is $17-$20 per hour commensurate with experience. We are also open to a work trade arrangement for our courses.
