Power Iberia Junior Consultant

RINA is currently recruiting for a Power Iberia Junior Consultant to join its office in Madrid within the Power Division.

Mission

The Junior Consultant will deliver technical assessments with specific focus on, but not limited to, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) plants for various stakeholders in the renewables industry. A key member of our growing Iberia Power (Renewables) team, the Junior Consultant will support the team and contribute to grow the business unit and its revenue within the Iberia market, as well as within the international RINA team.

The Junior Consultant will be able to provide consultancy services with the support and supervision of Senior Consultants. You’ll provide technical consulting services to lenders, investors and owners throughout the development, procurement, construction, and operations phases of BESS projects. Typical core tasks will include technical due diligences as part of BESS project financings or mergers & acquisitions, feasibility studies, tender management, and construction monitoring.

Key Accountabilities

Technical knowledge, development and research

1. Assisting in RINA’s position as industry leading BESS technical consultants through continuous technical knowledge building.
2. Help develop, test, and deliver new solutions to our clients, and be ahead of industry best practice with a solution focused attitude.
3. Participate in TDD, IE and OE projects carrying out BESS design review, technology review, project management, financial models review, etc.
4. Contribute to conceptual designs, evaluation of BESS suppliers and solutions, technical specifications.
5. BESS sizing and feasibility studies, both standalone and hybridized to renewable plants.
6. Ability to understand and support on contracts review and negotiations, including review of key technical, performance and warranty aspects related to BESS.

Project Management and Quality Assurance

1. Management of individual projects and portfolios ranging from kW to multi MW in size across Spain and our worldwide offices.
2. Ensuring the delivery of BESS related services is on time and budget, to a very high standard and ensuring client satisfaction.
3. Help develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients and teams.
4. Expected to use effective communication within the project team to support delivery of the project.
5. Supporting business development through liaison with a wide range of customers from BESS developers to financial institutions.
6. Take part in scope discussions, proposal drafting and negotiations with key clients including International Finance Institutions, developers, and lenders.
7. Build and maintain existing client relationships through delivery of high-quality analyses, reports and discussions.
8. Attend client meetings and present RINA’s approaches or results competently.

Leadership & Development

1. Following market trends, identifying prospects and managing the complete project lifecycle from proposal to delivery.

What are we looking for

1. Degree in an engineering field. Master’s degree in Renewable Energy is highly valued.
2. Fluency in English and Spanish. Other languages will be a plus (i.e.: Portuguese or Italian).
3. 3+ years of experience in the Renewable sector with at least 1 year of specific experience in BESS, preferably within a consultancy firm in Spain or abroad. Experience in BESS research and development or engineering will also be considered.
4. Experience in other technologies (i.e.: PV and/or WIND) will be a plus.
5. Knowledge of the Spanish regulation and policies affecting BESS and Renewable Energy business (i.e.: revenue streams, electricity markets, ancillary services, additional support mechanisms, etc.).
6. Good IT skills and excellent knowledge of MS Office package.
7. Experience with at least one of the key software and tools used in the Renewable Energy and BESS business: Homer, PVsyst, SAM, etc.
8. Knowledge of programming and data analysis will be highly valued (i.e.: Python, Matlab, etc.).
