Background: The Pre-Doctoral Researcher will be employed for Horizon Europe Framework Programme within the Call Horizon-MSCA-2021-DN-01-01 for the Type of action Horizon-MSCA-DN corresponding to the Proposal N. 101073014 in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie project GAP_Noise for the duration of 36 months for the thesis: "Torque control strategies of electric motors optimizing acoustic comfort while keeping performances on electric autonomous vehicles through a Multiphysics simulation" within the project of "Global Acoustic interaction and Psychoacoustic impact of the autonomous vehicles in interior and exterior Noise. The consortium GAP_NOISE, to which the doctorate program belongs, is designed as an innovative and pioneering training network, with a unique vision of establishing an ideal and suitable theoretical and practical arena for developing a technologically strong community of scientists and engineers capable of boosting the acoustic integration of autonomous vehicles in future urban areas by considering the needs of vulnerable road users and passengers. IDIADA is already providing testing and engineering services for EV systems, and current R&D activities will maintain IDIADA’s position for EV testing and development in the future. In order to match these market and technical trends, it is proposed to continue developing the service of electric vehicle Development focused on control definition for electric motors, noise assessment, and validation methodology combining virtual and physical testing.
Position: The position is offered in IDIADA Technical Center’s engineering department. IDIADA has acquired a wide expertise in the field of electric vehicle development for more than ten years. In particular, the electric motor laboratories and Noise & Vibration (NVH) hemi-anechoic chamber are reference testing facilities in Europe. IDIADA also offers engineering support to develop the electric powertrain from design and simulation toward calibration and validation development phase. For our next project within the GAP Noise consortium, our task is focused on Torque control strategies of electric motors optimizing acoustic comfort while keeping performances on electric autonomous vehicles through a Multiphysics simulation. The objective is to achieve a set of actions aimed at overcoming current limitations in the knowledge and technical experience in the engineering field of electric motors, modelling methods, control strategies, in addition to the recognized interaction between perceived sound quality and vibration.
Mission:
It is expected to have strong interaction with multiple departments at IDIADA (Powertrain, NVH, Design Engineering, Electronics, etc.). The activities to be carried out, among others, will include:
