Position Summary
R&D Information Technology (IT) is the stream in Nestlé IT in charge of powering the R&D function with IT capabilities to drive company growth through breakthrough research that can be translated quickly into products and services.
Digital technologies are triggering a crucial, comprehensive transformation of R&D organizations, and Nestlé is no exception. As a Technology Expert for R&D IT, you will:
- Evolve the architecture of the R&D IT applications reporting to the Strategic Product Portfolio Architect.
- Participate in the definition and setup of the processes required to ensure proper operability and scalability of all operations related to the infrastructure.
- Work closely with development teams and suppliers to secure that the value planned will be delivered optimally according to the product strategy and overall value for money objectives linked to the IS/IT strategy.
- Manage corporate processes related to the infrastructure of the products to ensure compliance and quality.
- Identify & learn new technologies to optimize current solutions and make them sustainable for the future, applying in-house standards and market best practices.
- Engage with Product Managers across the product groups and the whole IT organization to ensure alignment with the overall enterprise architecture and security requirements.
- Participate in identification and analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential effects on the enterprise and facilitate their testing for R&D Needs in collaboration with the Strategic Product Portfolio Architect.
- Support the design and modeling of tactical architectures for delivery, development, and support of special projects such as mergers, acquisitions or divestitures, and support experimentation on R&D.
To achieve the above, you will collaborate deeply with R&D stakeholders, the R&D IT Product Manager in charge of different areas – e.g., Nutrition, Sustainability or Food Safety - and the R&D IT Portfolio Architect team for Data & Analytics related projects, such as leveraging consumer insights and artificial intelligence in the Innovation & Renovation of the Nestlé portfolio to get even better foods and beverages to market, faster and more sustainably. You will also work with other parts of the Nestlé IT organization, such as Analytics, Data, and Integration (e.g., SAP recipe management), Technical and Production (e.g., trial management) or Marketing, Sales and eBusiness (e.g., consumer Internet of Things).

What will make you successful
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics or physics or a related study, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud. Amazon Web Services knowledge will be valuable.
- Microservices architecture and containerization (docker, containers).
- Linux operating system knowledge. Command Line proficiency.
- Relational databases knowledge such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, including Azure provided services.
- Data related cloud services, including Data Factory or Databricks.
- ML and AI technologies and frameworks knowledge.
- Strong emphasis on security principles, best practices, including encryption, access and identity management, authentication.
- Good understanding of the following technologies: web servers (e.g., Nginx, Apache, IIS), caching (e.g., Redis), Serverless patterns (e.g., Azure functions, Azure container Apps).
- Knowledge about Snowflake or equivalent solution.
- Data engineering knowledge. Experience analyzing complex data models and building data intensive applications.
- Experience with financial operations on public cloud providers – resource right-sizing, resource cost optimization and budget planning.
- Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as Agile software development, rapid prototyping, and DevOps).
- Understanding and knowledge of IT standards and controls.
- Experience with effective communication at different levels in the organization and in English.
- Experience having worked in a global environment and with virtual teams.
- Real hands-on knowledge of Python ecosystem at a level to design and build small prototypes and helper scripts. Knowledge of Django framework will be valuable.
- Real hands-on elemental knowledge of R language ecosystem, experience with Shiny framework will be valuable.
- Hands-on experience using CLI tools and scripting languages, especially in Unix-like environments.
- Experience conducting proof of technology pilots and in-depth analysis of emerging technology.
- Natural curiosity and desire to learn.

- At least 5 years of experience in at least two IS/IT disciplines (such as infrastructure or security management, application development, middleware, information analysis) in a multitier environment.
