Job Description:

We are hiring an engineer to join our engineering team for a 12-month assignment on our France-based projects. Main responsibilities include:

  1. Specialist work relating to Thomson Scattering Oversight:
    • Development of the project and technical strategy and methods needed to implement the Thomson scattering systems.
    • Maintenance of project implementation plans for all related work, and monitor and control cost and schedules for all related activities.
    • Technical review of progress documentation.
    • Development of necessary documentation on these systems.
  2. Diagnostic Expert Support for 55.G8 Erosion Deposition Monitor:
    • Update where needed the document production plan (DPP) of the Erosion monitor and generate, or update, the required documents.
    • Supervise the engineering and design contract for the PDR of the EDM and once the PDR has been held the contract for FDR.
    • Follow up on resolving the chits generated during CDR and PDR of the Erosion Monitor diagnostic for ITER, together with the engineering and design contractor.
    • Lead the development of the design through Preliminary and Final Engineering design by supporting in Optical, Optomechanical and Mechanical designs.
    • Supervise the Thermal and Hydraulic, Neutronics and Electromagnetic analysis and structural analysis of this diagnostic in close cooperation with the Diagnostic Engineering section.
    • Assist the division in the diagnostic port plug integration relevant to the diagnostic.
    • Assist the division in generating the relevant documents for getting the design reviewed during the Design Reviews pertaining to the above activities.
    • Liaise with and drive the work with the Institut für Technische Optik, ITO, through the existing Cooperation Agreement. This will involve organizing regular meetings with their team and follow-up on ongoing contracts, ensuring timely delivery of the ITO agreed deliverables.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. At least 9 years experience in the design and operation of Thomson scattering diagnostic systems, preferably on tokamaks.
  2. Proven experience in the design, installation and commissioning of complex optical diagnostic systems and management of complex interfaces between different parties.
  3. Demonstrated experience in the project initiation, management, and design of diagnostic systems on magnetic fusion devices.
  4. Demonstrated experience in project management and in effective Quality Assurance management.
  5. At least 9 years experience in the design and operation of diagnostic systems, preferably on tokamaks.
  6. Demonstrated experience in leading and guiding complex optical diagnostic system design, preferably on fusion devices.
  7. Demonstrated experience in project management and management of complex interfaces between many parties.

Education & Experience:

MSc or BSc degree in Engineering.

Competencies:

Excellent command of English, both verbal and written. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
