This position is not currently funded and is contingent upon funding to Amentum. At this time, Amentum is seeking candidates to fulfill contingent roles. The expected award timeframe is Fall 2025.

The System Administrator / Customer Service Specialist is responsible for providing a wide range of IT and customer service support to ensure the effective functioning of hardware, software, and network systems. This position requires expertise in troubleshooting IT systems, integrating personal computers into broader IT infrastructure, and addressing technical challenges. The role is designated as part of the Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) and involves compliance with relevant Department of the Navy (DON) and Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • IT System Administration:

    • Provide Information Assurance (IA) and IT services for command-managed hardware and software.
    • Manage user accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
    • Monitor and manage IT resource inventory, including hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
    • Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and peripherals for end-users.
    • Implement patch management and conduct system/application performance testing.
  • User Support:

    • Offer technical support and troubleshooting for system and application hardware/software issues.
    • Proactively interact with users to address operational concerns and ensure system functionality.
    • Provide training and guidance to users on system operations, data access, and recovery techniques.
    • Develop guidance documents and instructional materials for system users.
  • IT Project Management:

    • Act as the primary IT project manager and subject matter expert for command-wide IT initiatives.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify or develop suitable technology solutions.
    • Submit and manage Requests for Change (RFCs) and Standard Change Requests.
    • Track and project IT budgets using the Program Budget Information System (PBIS)-IT.
  • Telecommunications Management:

    • Manage inventory and distribution of mobile phones and SIM cards.
    • Ensure compliance with ONE-Net and Base Communications Office (BCO) telecommunications policies.
    • Address user-reported issues related to mobile devices and telecommunications systems.
  • Reporting and Recommendations:

    • Identify and report emerging trends in IT systems and performance.
    • Provide recommendations for IT improvements and system upgrades.
    • Actively participate in monthly IT Requirements and Planning Meetings.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in IT system administration or customer service support.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft computing environments and familiarity with DON Cyber IT/CSWF requirements.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, installing, and configuring IT hardware, software, and networks.
  • Experience in IT inventory management and budget tracking.
  • Proficiency with patch management, performance testing, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Ability to develop guidance documents and deliver user training.
  • Competence in IT project management and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively interact with users and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must comply with SECNAV M-5239.2 and DFAR Clause 252.239-7001.
  • Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Certifications in IT systems or cybersecurity, such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or equivalent.
  • Experience with Navy-specific IT and telecommunications systems (e.g., ONE-Net).
  • Familiarity with PBIS-IT or similar budgeting systems.
  • Previous experience supporting DoD or DON IT infrastructure.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP or CAPM).
