Role Overview :
As the Director, EH&S – EMEA – Iberia, Africa and Middle East OU, you will be responsible for providing support to Otis EMEA efforts related to environmental and safety compliance. In your role you will partner with Otis EHS, Engineering and Field Operations to identify, anticipate, assess hazards, design / implement company EH&S policies and management systems, maintain regulatory compliance / training and reduce the impact of incidents and losses.
Job Responsibilities :
- Design and implement a governance program to monitor EHS compliance and risk management, including Operating Unit Area auditing for Otis’ Field Locations.
- Develop and implement an Operating Unit level EHS management system and compliance programs to ensure compliance with applicable local, regional, national, worldwide EHS regulations, directives, and standards.
- Lead partnership with both Otis Operations and Operating Unit leadership team as well as front-line supervision to ensure the EH&S practices and standard work are supported across EMEA.
- Actively participate in management review meetings including presenting on strategy, safety metrics, and KPIs.
- Monitor, interpret, and assess existing or emerging EHS laws, regulations, regulatory policy, and industry practices, determine operational and business impacts, and develop, integrate and execute global EHS strategies, policies, programs, procedures, standards, training, processes and actions.
- Function in leadership role ensuring appropriate, EHS technical, engineering, and legal support regarding regulatory activity and external engagement related to EHS activities, including reporting, inspections, notices of non-compliance, enforcement actions, and permitting issues.
- Function in leadership role to assist in the measurement of OU focused EHS performance metrics and evaluate trends for continuous improvement and corrective measures.
- Lead continuous improvement actions, programs and / or processes on compliance assurance, incident prevention, injury prevention, ESG focus and other EHS performance indicators.
- Facilitate with EMEA EHS VP regarding management reviews, reporting on EHS performance and tactical and strategic improvement planning.
- Develop and support both strategic vision and tactical engagement for key elements of the company's learning and development program for its Operations and EHS teams to facilitate a culture of continuous improvement and EHS excellence.
- Partner and collaborate with the Regional EHS leaders and other functions to influence and manage EHS resources and projects and business decisions.
- Travel in Operating Unit locations and support operations where necessary – 50% to 75% in Operating Unit.
What You Will Need to be Successful :
- Industry experience in Operational, EHS, or Field Capacity.
- Knowledge of global EHS legal and regulatory requirements, technical expertise, EHS engineering knowledge, best practices and EHS management systems.
- Possess tactical and strategic regulatory leadership and direction, as well as work well with limited supervision while being responsible for project management, compliance assurance, risk mitigation, injury prevention and environmental management.
- Experience prioritizing and managing multiple, technically complex assignments concurrently.
- Organized, analytical, detail-oriented, problem-solver, project management skills and focus on results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along the ability to effectively speak in public and provide presentations to senior management and groups of employees.
- Strong leadership, coaching skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
