Role Summary

With the recent acquisition of the Viatris biosimilar business, Biocon Biologics will embark on its next stage of growth. This is an exciting time to be a part of the Biocon Biologics team, as we look to build and grow the commercial operations in Europe. The ideal candidate will be results-driven and must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You must have the ability to deliver results and possess a strong drive to meet and exceed goals and be willing to take ownership of problems and make sound decisions. The Director, Business Finance, will be responsible for driving financial planning and analysis efforts for Europe. The successful candidate will be a key partner to the Europe Commercial Leadership Team and be responsible for managing revenues and expenses for Biocon Biologics’ biosimilar products. This role will provide guidance on strategic, operational, and financial issues. This position reports to the Head of Finance, Europe.

Daily Responsibilities

  1. Partner with the business to drive ROI analysis, build and manage execution of the entire planning cycle, including budget, strategic plan, and monthly/quarterly forecasting.
  2. Closely manage the P&L with commercial partners for the market, including revenue and operating expense forecasting and managing risks and opportunities.
  3. Provide monthly and quarterly analysis and metrics to finance and executive leadership to assess and report on financial performance versus operating plan, forecast, and prior periods.
  4. Lead monthly revenue forecasting process, including gross-to-net forecast and reconciliation, and providing performance statistics to leadership team.
  5. Support and understand tender framework and dynamics and how this impacts the business and gross margins.
  6. Understanding and ability to drive and support decisions on pricing negotiations, setting robust guidance to the country manager on how to maximize revenues, gross margins and EBITDA.
  7. Provide guidance and analysis to support pricing and discounting decisions.
  8. Support the Regional Financial Controller, Corporate Controller and Centre of Excellence in all controllership activities, ensuring a strong control environment for the business.
  9. Oversight of all financial aspects of the OTC processes including liaison with Supply Chain processes, service providers, banking relationships and Customer Service function.
  10. Partner with Technical Accounting and the Commercial team to analyze and influence complex contract proposals that may have revenue recognition implications.
  11. Design and direct the preparation of insightful and actionable financial analyses, key messages and presentations which aid critical senior management decisions.
  12. Monitor and develop insights from key business drivers including demand, inventory, pricing, and market share.
  13. Analyze key business trends and proactively identify and communicate issues, opportunities and/or threats and collaborate with management to resolve them.
  14. Work with leaders in other functions to create advanced financial analysis and reporting while effectively interpreting and communicating recommendations.
  15. Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  16. Collaborate with Corporate Finance and CoE/Global Finance teams to design and implement regional management performance and external reporting processes, controls and systems.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years’ experience in related field, including financial planning and analysis or commercial analytics roles. Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent). Either large company/relevant European regional or country experience. In-depth Pharmaceutical/Biosimilars industry experience in Finance, including commercial operations, Order-To-Cash and Gross-To-Net processes. Tendering processes/management, retail markets and price negotiations. Understanding of the industry environment in the countries/Europe region is a must (e.g., Spain and Italy or UK and Ireland or other European markets in Central or Eastern Europe). Proficiency in aspects of accounting and finance and knowledge of IFRS is required, including strong knowledge gross-to-net, sales/revenues forecasting, budgetary control financial planning and analysis and good understanding of Financial Controllership activities. In-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence, Financial Planning and ERP systems is required with proficiency in Microsoft tools (intermediate/advanced excel and PowerPoint skills). Experience in high-growth, multi-national organization with Centre of Excellence/Global teams is a significant advantage. Good written and verbal Spanish or Italian language in addition to excellent English language skills is a must.
