We are looking for a person with availability to fill a permanent vacancy in our Technical Center in Tarragona. This is the department in charge of performing product development of polypropylene compounds for the automotive industry.

Perform a color match against a customer standard or reference (from automotive OEMs) by mixing several pigments combinations into a polypropylene matrix and evaluate the color match by visual and by spectrometric assessment.

1. Select the pigments to be used according to the specified requirements.
2. Mix the pigments, additives and other raw materials with a quick mixer and extrude the full mixture.
3. By injection molding of the resulting pellets obtain plaques.
4. Analyze the colors with colorimeters and the visual assessment.
5. While a color match assess if the color data obtained by the colorimeter are fine.
6. Modify pigments combinations to match a color by visual assessment.
7. Perform calibration curves of the colorimeter for single pigments.
8. Register and maintain the TC databases, the pigment recipes and color standards stock.
9. Provide support to the investigation of customer complaints related to color issues.
10. Supporting any external and internal enquiries on color issues.
11. Communicate and assist our customer technical service and sales organization.

Area of Expertise

Visual colors assessment. Knowledge of colorimetry and pigments.

Education

Vocational training in chemistry or laboratory analysis or University degree related to chemistry. Specific training in colorimetry.

Work Experience

Verifiable experience of at least four years working as a colourist. Experience in laboratory, analysis, operation of plastic processing machines, knowledge of operation of equipment related to extrusion and mixing of polymeric materials.

Languages

Spanish and a fluent English level (written and spoken), French shall be an added value.

4. Safe handling of equipment.
5. Sense of safety, quality and accuracy applied in all aspects of their work.
