We are seeking an experienced and well-connected Coal Trader who is based in Spain and has strong selling/trading knowledge in all kinds of carbon products (Metallurgical Coal/Anthracite/PCI/Met Coke/Coking Coal, Pet Coke) worldwide to off-takers, mills, traders, etc.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for PNL of Coal and Coke Trading Desk.
  2. Sourcing and selling coal and coke to traders, end users, and mills on CFR, FOB sales basis.
  3. Close monitoring and tracking of the market and market movements.
  4. Monitoring coal/coke movements worldwide, various trades/deals taking place, including buyers and sellers, deal prices, etc.
  5. Keeping tabs on world movements of coal and coke and production of coal and coke.
  6. Maximizing the commercial value and profitability of each transaction.
  7. Statistics on worldwide coal/coke trades, deals, shipments, price movements, trading/shipping operations, freight movements, economical & political movements, etc.
  8. Contract/sales negotiation, sound knowledge in INCOTERMS & contractual requirements of a region and cargo-wise, JV’s, COA, etc.
  9. Sound knowledge of payment instruments such as Foreign DLC, FCR, warehouse receipts, CAD/DP, CMA, etc.
  10. Take part in trading and hedging strategies, conferences, trade shows, exhibitions, etc.
  11. Establish and build strong relationships with all stakeholders, ensure the achievement of agreement between companies and customers, and assist in managing customer relationships.
  12. Knowledge of CMA, pledge, collateral management.
  13. Strong experience in shipping & logistics, port logistics, foreign currency transactions.
  14. Having strong international trade experiences of over 5-8 years.

Candidate Requirement

  1. Strong connections and relationships with end users, mills, traders, producers, purchase managers, and mining companies.
  2. Strong negotiators, level-headed, and capable of closing deals independently and covering last-mile negotiations.
  3. Able to structure the deal independently.
  4. Very strong on freight numbers, able to work freight to the advantage in supply chain in CFR sales and add value to the deal.
  5. Strong knowledge in contracts, dispute resolution, and settlement.
  6. Strong technical/chemical/physical knowledge of coal and coke and their properties, applications.
  7. Wide network of buyers and sellers, mining companies.
  8. Good contacts with owners, operators, ports, CHA, inspection agencies, labs, insurance companies.
  9. Detailed knowledge of coal industry, shipping, and logistics.
  10. A go-getter and self-starter with a desire to excel and an open mindset.
  11. In-depth knowledge of Bills of Lading, switch BLS, CP, FCR, WHR, trading markets, etc.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s and postgraduate degree in relevant discipline.
  2. Minimum 5-8 years of international experience in coal/coke trading.
  3. Widely traveled internationally to meet buyers/sellers/mining companies/producers and mills.
  4. Well-attended coal conferences.
  5. Languages (Mandatory - Written & Spoken): English & Spanish.
