Join BIG!
BIG is a group of 700+ architects, engineers, urbanists, inventors, researchers and business minds from all over the world who are based in our Copenhagen, New York, London and Barcelona offices. Our built work ranges from the most diverse urban playground and Michelin-star dining - to affordable housing and a school among the verdant fjords of the Faroe Islands. Our vision spans traveling at supersonic speed with Hyperloop One to living in floating cities and eventually Mars! While we are led by a group of expert partners, directors, and associates - a flat hierarchy and collaborative spirit are essential to our BIG ecosystem. We are infectiously ambitious and unified by the shared mission to craft the world we want to live in and to give form to our future one project at a time.
We are dedicated to creating and maintaining a cool workplace where we want to be and we continuously work at becoming better and better at what we do.
Architectural Intern
At our Copenhagen office, we are always looking for talented and motivated Danish architecture students eager to learn and develop their skills. As an intern at BIG, you will experience a dynamic and inspiring work environment in an international creative community. You will work alongside and learn from some of the best architects in the world and participate in exciting projects, social events, courses, and more.
You will work in our newly self-designed headquarters in Copenhagen with 300 colleagues, but as an Architectural Intern, you will be part of a small project team and work on projects of varying types, sizes, and locations. The internship will help you develop and improve your design, communication, technical, and conceptual skills while contributing to the development of the projects you are part of. At BIG, you have great development opportunities – over a third of our current architect employees started here as interns.
Daily, you will work in Rhino or Revit and Adobe Suite, and you are expected to have good skills in these programs. You will assist in the production and development of design proposals, produce diagrams, drawings, virtual and physical models, and visualizations for the projects you work on. During your internship, you will be exposed to more independent work, solve technical and design challenges, and participate in decision-making regarding the final design of the project you are working on. You will learn about products, materials, and construction methods in the EU and globally, and you will observe and sometimes participate in meetings with management, project stakeholders, local authorities, approval bodies, and subcontractors.
At BIG, interns are actively involved in the design process, sketching and developing ideas alongside more experienced employees. We prioritize our interns highly and ensure a broad distribution of tasks. In the office, we emphasize camaraderie and encourage all employees to feel ownership of the architecture being created.
