Position: Youth Pastor
Hours: 40 hours per week (Full-Time)
Salary: $55,000-$65,000

Job Overview: The Youth Pastor works alongside the Associate Youth Pastor and is responsible for leading the Youth and Young Adult ministry program, guiding students on their spiritual journeys, and partnering with the larger staff to equip the broader church to follow Jesus together. This role involves overseeing all Youth and Young Adult related activities, developing and mentoring leaders, and building a ministry that fosters a culture of connection, belonging, and transformation.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Teaching (12 hours/week)
– Plan and study for weekly youth gatherings, including preaching, curriculum, and small group discussion.
– Develop a comprehensive teaching plan and youth program that aligns with the church’s mission and vision, addressing spiritual formation, faith development, and following Jesus together.
– Intentionally take time during the week for personal spiritual formation and professional development.
2. Volunteer Development (4 hours/week)
– Recruit, train, and support youth leaders and volunteers to help implement the ministry mission and vision.
– Regularly meet with volunteers for training, encouragement, and spiritual support.
– Empower volunteers to effectively disciple students and support the vision of Summerland Baptist.
3. Youth Ministry Program & Event Planning (10 hours/week)
– Plan, coordinate, and lead youth events, retreats, and service projects.
– Ensure that all events reflect the mission and vision of the youth ministry, creating spaces for connection, belonging, and transformation.
– Collaborate with other ministry leaders for larger church events.
4. Young Adults Program & Event Planning (5 hours/week)
– Plan and coordinate Young Adult gatherings, events, and retreats.
– Ensure that all events reflect the mission and vision of Summerland Baptist, creating spaces for connection, belonging, and transformation.
– Collaborate with other ministry leaders for larger church events.
5. Staff Support (9 hours/week)
– Help plan, coordinate, and lead larger church events and gatherings.
– Collaborate with other ministry leaders using your gifts to help support the direction of Summerland Baptist and its various ministries.
– Attend regular meetings, providing input and support as needed.
Qualifications:
– Mission & Vision Alignment: Consistently uphold and promote the church’s mission, reinforcing the values of connection, belonging, and transformation.
– Theological Alignment: Fully embrace and support the CBWC (Canadian Baptists of Western Canada) identity statement in both teaching and practice.
– Spiritual Growth & Discipleship: Committed to growing and nurturing one’s own spiritual walk with Jesus. Able to create and maintain a welcoming, nurturing environment where students can grow spiritually and deepen their relationship with Jesus.
– Pastoral Heart: Serve as a visible and approachable leader within the church community, actively engaging with students and guiding them in their faith.
– Teaching & Preaching: Capable of effectively teaching and preaching, able to communicate the scriptures in an engaging and relatable manner.
– Education: Bachelor of Arts in a relevant field preferred.
– Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in youth ministry or a ministry role preferred.
