Job description

The Fath Group is currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our safety team. The H&S Advisor must be able to align with the company’s core purpose and core values.

This is a permanent full-time position based at our head office, located in the west end of Edmonton. As the successful candidate, you will report to the Health & Safety Manager and will be required to perform the following key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Development and maintenance of the Health and Safety Program components to ensure compliance with Regulatory requirements.
  2. Assist with Incident Reporting and Investigations. Review and complete documentation, identify and recommend Corrective and Preventative Actions.
  3. Support the company’s Alcohol and Drug program.
  4. Develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans and Emergency Management processes.
  5. Coach and mentor Operations through worksite Safety Inspections, Observations, and participation in Toolbox Talks.
  6. Review and coach all employees on the completion of Field Level Hazard Assessments.
  7. Assist Operations in developing and implementing Safe Work Practices and Procedures.
  8. Develop and maintain the Health and Safety Contractor Management program including maintenance of Contractor Compliance Programs.
  9. Participate in various OH&S initiatives and improvement projects.
  10. Participate in the review and analysis of Incident and Injury Data, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  11. Maintain COR Audit requirements, both internal and external.
  12. Rotational on-call hours required.
  13. Perform additional assignments per Health & Safety Manager’s direction.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety is required.
  2. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) is highly desirable or qualified to write.
  3. National Construction Safety Officer Designation (NCSO) is beneficial.
  4. Minimum 5 years’ experience in OH&S is required.
  5. Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta OH&S Code, Act and Regulations.
  6. Experience in Incident and Injury Investigations and Injury Management.
  7. Experience in Formal Hazard Assessments and Identification.
  8. Familiarity with COR Audit requirements.
  9. Experience in Health and Safety Contractor Management and Contractor Compliance programs is an asset.
  10. Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal, written, and visual presentation).
  11. Proficiency in SiteDocs, Microsoft, and Google suite of applications.
  12. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  13. Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with high attention to detail.
  14. Must be able to provide an acceptable driver’s abstract and pass site access drug and alcohol test results.
