Job description

Graphic Web Designer

Our client is one of Canada's premier providers of Registered Education Savings Plans. With assets over $1.3 billion, the company offers some of Canada's highest-performing, safest and most flexible RESP products. Headquartered in Toronto, the company employs approximately 90 people and has relationships with more than 1,800 sales representatives across the country.

Our client is currently seeking a skilled Graphic Web Designer to join the Marketing Group. Reporting to the Sr. Marketing Manager, the Graphic Web Designer will be responsible for several aspects of Heritage's graphics and web presence including:

  1. creating task specific micro sites
  2. creating and updating corporate web pages
  3. writing and editing content
  4. creating and editing graphics for use in web pages
  5. maintaining the corporate web site, client portal, partner portal, and Intranet
  6. supporting the marketing team with other web-related tasks

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate should demonstrate sound skills in graphic design, web design, and project management. You can address the challenges of corporate communications on a high traffic website and know how to maximize uptime for all website functions.

You have an excellent command of the English language and are extremely detail-oriented. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to anticipate workflow, prioritize, and follow tasks to completion. You are a self-starter, a good listener, creative, and a team player.

Specific skill requirements include:

  1. advanced skills in graphic design and web development
  2. experience with common software including, but not limited to, Dreamweaver, Contribute, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office
  3. ability to hand code HTML and CSS
  4. familiarity with current web trends including CSS based layouts
  5. familiarity with the website development cycle
  6. experience with organic search engine optimization (SEO) techniques and best practices
  7. experience with the Ektron CMS would be an asset but not a requirement
  8. experience with Javascript, VBScript, ASP, and other scripting languages considered an asset, but not a requirement
  9. experience with print materials and copywriting would be a definite asset
  10. ability to manage large, dynamic projects
  11. experience designing a broad range of marketing materials
