The Web Designer plays a key role in the university’s Web Transformation Project, which focuses on the redevelopment and transformation of the institution’s current website, with a particular emphasis on the recruitment pages. This position is responsible for designing visually appealing, user-centered web pages that meet the university's strategic objectives. The Web Designer collaborates with cross-functional teams within Marketing, Communications, and IT to ensure that all web designs adhere to brand guidelines, technical specifications, and user accessibility standards. The role involves creating wireframes, prototypes, and design elements that improve user experience and website functionality. Additionally, the Web Designer works closely with the Web Developer to ensure the seamless integration of designs into the university’s content management system (CMS) and to support ongoing site maintenance and updates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Interactive Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Front-End Development, or a related field from a recognized, post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in web design, with a portfolio of responsive web design projects that showcase creativity, strategic thinking, and a strong focus on users.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Figma, or Sketch.
  • Strong knowledge of UX/UI principles and best practices.
  • Experience working with content management systems (CMS), preferably TerminalFour.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Good understanding of accessibility standards and practices (e.g., WCAG).
  • Experience in higher education or similar sectors, preferred.
  • Experience with website analytics tools such as Google Analytics, preferred.
  • Good understanding of SEO and digital marketing, preferred.
