ABOUT WASCO:
Winnipeg Airport Services Corp. (WASCO) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Winnipeg Airports Authority that provides quality airport operations, management, facility maintenance and technical services to Canadian Airports.

WASCO has been retained by airports, to develop, implement and manage the Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Assurance Program (QAP) for thirty-three certified and registered airports. All airports are northern and remote that have service daily scheduled/charter air services and are a vital link of goods and critical services to each community in which they serve.

OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Finance and Financial Systems, the Corporate Analyst, WASCO is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis of our subsidiary business operations. This role includes handling monthly reports, quarterly forecasts, annual business planning, and budgeting, as well as providing financial analysis support for new business initiatives.
Additionally, the Corporate Analyst, WASCO will assist with various corporate functions, including treasury management, capital plan oversight, Balance Scorecard administration, and special projects, such as the ongoing development of our ERP system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee accounting for subsidiaries.
  • Review financial information for joint ventures and investments.
  • Analyze and reconcile key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Track capital asset expenditures according to contracts and IFRS standards.
  • Prepare supporting documents for income tax reporting and assist with annual audits.
  • Conduct monthly budget variance analysis and collaborate with Finance managers on significant differences.
  • Participate in quarterly forecasting meetings and update financial forecasts in Prophix.
  • Assist the Director of Finance and CFO with board reporting as needed.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for subsidiaries, including revenue and operating expenses.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for Winnipeg Airport Authority’s 5-year capital plan.
  • Update the monthly capital tracker to compare year-to-date performance against the budget/forecast.
  • Prepare monthly updates on capital plan performance for leadership.
  • Create ad-hoc reports on capital initiatives for budget holders.
  • Manage capital project fund allocations and provide coding instructions to managers, finance, and supply chain.
  • Update and administer the Corporate Balance Scorecard annually and quarterly to align with the business plan
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with at least three years of relevant experience.
  • CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and experience in a computerized environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and methods.
  • Experience in maintaining financial records and performing basic reconciliations.
  • Proficient in accounting software (currently using Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards is an asset.
  • Occasional travel to subsidiary locations may be required.
Condition of employment is the ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card.
