Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain Management, the Warehouse and Materials Manager will oversee warehouse operations and materials management across our supply and manufacturing value chain. Key responsibilities include managing daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient handling and distribution of fuel cell products, and leading strategy development for materials management. This role involves maintaining optimal inventory levels, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting safety, quality, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management: Oversee warehouse functions including receiving, storing, distributing and shipping goods to manufacturing locations.
- Supply Continuity: Address supply disruptions with efficient solutions, perform inventory analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Inventory Control: Implement and maintain inventory control procedures, conduct audits, and resolve discrepancies.
- Future Growth: Develop a 3-year strategy for materials movement and storage, lead strategic inventory planning, and cross functionally co-lead the 18-month rolling SI&OP process.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and develop warehouse staff, promote safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, and enforce safety protocols.
- Inventory Compliance: Maintain inventory control procedures and lead compliance audits.
- Process Improvement: Enhance warehouse operations, implement best practices, and apply lean principles.
- Data Analysis: Use software and analytics to forecast demand, track inventory, and identify trends.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze performance reports, manage working capital and inventory obsolescence reporting, and provide formal updates to senior management.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with procurement, production, logistics, and external vendors to ensure timely material delivery.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: 5-7 years in warehouse management, preferably in manufacturing or technology.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, engineering, or related field.
- Leadership: Proven team management skills in a dynamic environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control software, and Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerBI; knowledge of Oracle Fusion ERP is a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills focused on continuous improvement.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy in warehouse management.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to present updates to management.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment.
- Travel: 10% travel to vendors and manufacturing facilities.
The typical hiring range for this position is CAD$93,840 - CAD$117,300 per annum. In determining total compensation, Ballard considers many factors, including the successful candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, position location, and internal equity.
