Travel Requirement: Travel required to other locations

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; applicants must be flexible to work additional and varied hours as required (evening and weekends)

Job Description:

Sinai Health is looking for a Volunteer Resources Coordinator at our Mount Sinai Campus. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Volunteer Resources, the Volunteer Resources Coordinator will be responsible for leading full-cycle recruitment, placement, training, and supervision of volunteers for the main floor, 4th floor, and other volunteer programs. This role requires developing and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders to create and maintain volunteer programs that align with Sinai Health’s purpose and values.

In this role you will:

  • Create and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure proactive and timely management of meeting organizational and departmental needs.
  • Manage the full recruitment process life-cycle including posting, candidate screening and assessment, interviewing, reference checking, and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to create and maintain current volunteer positions that are clearly defined and reflective of Sinai Health’s purpose and values.
  • Participate in orienting and training new volunteers to the department and organization.
  • Supervise volunteer activities directly and indirectly as appropriate.
  • Monitor volunteer performance and compliance to ensure that behaviors are consistent with Sinai Health's purpose and values through communication with volunteers and supervisors.
  • Participate in the planning and coordination of special events such as National Volunteer Week, Learning Opportunities, Pair and Share, and Summer Mentorship Program.
  • Maintain volunteer records and statistics.
  • Ensure and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for volunteers.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

Job Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent and related experience.

Preferred:

  • Degree specialization in volunteer management, human resources, Gerontology, or a related field of study.
  • Certification with PAVRO (Professional Association of Volunteer Leaders – Ontario) is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Experience working within a collaborative and team-based environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven leadership ability; experience supporting a broad range of clients and team members.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building, diplomacy, and conflict management skills to interact effectively with all stakeholders and problem-solve issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and changing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to clearly define and articulate requirements, priorities, impacts, and solutions.
