Job Title: Volunteer Community Development Manager - 1000 Seeds Program/Canadian Horizons Magazine

Location: Calgary, AB (Remote or On-site)

Commitment: Part-time, Flexible Hours, At least 5 to 10 hours per week.

Due date: Minimum: 6 Months Commitment

Our 1000 Seeds Program is a transformative initiative that connects businesses with newcomers, offering short-term employment opportunities to help them gain valuable work experience and build their careers.

Position Overview: We are seeking motivated and experienced Volunteer Community Development Managers to join our 1000 Seeds Program team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and nurturing relationships within the community to support the program's growth and impact. You will work closely with the CEO and Program Director to develop strategies that engage businesses, employers, and community stakeholders in creating opportunities for newcomers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Implement Community Engagement Strategies: Work with the CEO and Program Director to create and execute strategies that build strong relationships with businesses, employers, and community organizations to support the goals of the 1000 Seeds Program/Canadian Horizons Magazine.
  2. Build and Maintain Community Partnerships: Identify and cultivate relationships with key community stakeholders, including businesses, employers, and local organizations, to secure their participation in the program.
  3. Promote the Program: Advocate for the 1000 Seeds Program within the community, raising awareness of its benefits and encouraging participation from businesses and employers.
  4. Collaborate with Leadership Team: Work closely with the CEO and Program Director to align community development efforts with the overall vision and mission of the Foundation.
  5. Support Program Operations: Assist with the planning and coordination of program activities, including events, workshops, and networking opportunities for newcomers and employers.
  6. Monitor and Evaluate Impact: Track the success of community engagement initiatives, gather feedback from stakeholders, and continuously improve strategies to maximize program impact.
  7. Foster an Inclusive Community: Ensure that all community engagement efforts are inclusive and promote diversity, aligning with the Foundation’s commitment to creating a welcoming environment for newcomers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Experience in Community Development: Proven experience in community development, outreach, or a related field, particularly in roles that involve building partnerships and engaging stakeholders.
  2. Strong Networking and Relationship-Building Skills: Ability to connect with a diverse range of community stakeholders, fostering strong, mutually beneficial relationships.
  3. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement effective community engagement strategies that align with organizational goals.
  4. Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the Foundation effectively in the community.
  5. Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with the CEO, Program Director, and other team members to achieve program objectives.
  6. Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple community engagement initiatives and track their progress.
  7. Passion for Community Service: A deep commitment to supporting newcomers and contributing to the economic and cultural diversity of the community.
  8. Cultural Competence: Understanding and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds, with a focus on creating inclusive environments.
