The Kimel Family Centre for Brain Health and Wellness is a research-based dementia-prevention community center, where members will receive an in-depth assessment of their dementia risk, and then will be prescribed programming to reduce that risk. The employee oversees the volunteers who participate in the Kimel Family Centre for Brain Health and Wellness. The volunteers provide support to the programs, members, researchers, and staff. The employee ensures proper training and motivates volunteers on a regular basis to ensure a high quality of service to the clients, volunteer work satisfaction and a high level of volunteer retention.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Recruit, screen, and interview volunteers for the Program in order to meet the needs of the program as its members ongoing education and base grows.
• Perform all administrative activities related to the day to day operations of the volunteers within program including scheduling, matching clients to volunteers and coverage.
• Provide supervision and support to the volunteers of the program and participate in any other projects when requested.
• Plans and implements volunteer opportunities for volunteers in collaboration with various levels of staff throughout the Kimel Centre.
• Evaluates internal volunteer position description/recognition to ensure that volunteers’ responsibilities are in accordance with the collective agreement, risk management, and offer learning objectives for the volunteers.
• Evaluates programs in order to increase effectiveness of volunteer management and develops new program initiatives to strengthen volunteerism.
• Performs job responsibilities in a manner that supports Baycrest’s safety culture.

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

• Diploma or Certificate in Fundraising and Volunteer Management (i.e. Humber College, George Brown College, Ryerson), Social Services or other related field of study.
• Police Reference Check (for Vulnerable Persons) in good standing.
• Two (2) years volunteer coordination experience in a hospital, health or social services organization, or hospice setting is preferred.
• Experience working with a geriatric population is an asset.
• Proven teaching/training, facilitating and public speaking experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Knowledge of VSys One or other volunteer management software would be an asset.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communications skills.
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a team and committee member.
