The Volunteer & Communications Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing events and campaigns that raise funds, food, and other key donations to support operations of Mount Arrowsmith MU departments. He/She recruits, screens, trains, and oversees volunteers to support programs and activities; coordinates the MU major events, and other initiatives, including the support of 3rd party events.
Hours:
Full Time – 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday (flexible hours in November -December)
Education/Certifications:
Completion of a university degree in business administration, human resources, or social studies.
Experience:
Five to seven years of prior related experience, including experience in project management, managing people/resources, and communicating orally and in writing to stakeholders and/or funders.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Experience in volunteering.
Competent leadership skills: ability to motivate and inspire.
Excellent organizational and team coordination skills; ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Demonstrated interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Frequent attention to computer work, attentive listening, moderate concentration when dealing with figures and policies, and occasional proposal preparation.
Excellent knowledge of applicable software programs including Internet, database, Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and volunteer management system.
Demonstrated experience with social media tools.
Demonstrated knowledge of the media landscape in BC.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including writing and research skills.
Proven ability to work independently.
Ability to multitask and effective time management.
