The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for volunteer management, assisting with program delivery and working collaboratively with the staff team, Vancouver Police Department, Board members, volunteers, partners, and community members.

Description

The Hastings Sunrise Community Policing Centre (HSCPC) is a community-driven non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to improving safety in the Hastings Sunrise and north Grandview-Woodlands neighbourhoods through crime prevention and proactive community initiatives. We work in partnership with the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), the City of Vancouver, and various community agencies.

We are looking for a self-motivated team player with exceptional organizational and communication skills that has a strong desire to help and engage the community.

Position title: Volunteer and Program Coordinator – Part-time (26 hours per week)
Work week: 3-4 days per week (Saturday’s and some evenings)
Start date: January 20, 2025
Compensation: $25 per hour; Competitive Benefit Package is included
Location: 2620 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC
Report to: Coordinator and Executive Director

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  1. Recruit, train, mentor and support volunteers
  2. Assist in organizing volunteer recognition events and initiatives
  3. Maintain volunteer and program records and provide monthly/yearly progress reports
  4. Respond to public inquiries, provide resource information, and record complaints and concerns
  5. Assist with planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating community safety programs and projects
  6. Lead outreach activities as required
  7. Coordinate community events and activities

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Post-secondary education preferably in a related area or a combination of education and experience
  2. 2 years demonstrated experience in volunteer coordination, program management, or community engagement
  3. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  4. Proven organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  5. Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and clear a police background check
