This is a hybrid role in Vancouver.
Pay Range: $50/hr - $56/hr

Our client is looking for a highly creative and motivated Background Vista Artist. The Background Vista Artist is responsible for interpreting visual, written and verbal direction. They will produce complex 3D and matte painted elements to a high standard with a thorough understanding of perspective, lighting, colour and form. They are also expected to collaborate with other members of the dev team such as art direction, design, modelling and lighting to ensure the proposed ideas are meeting the gameplay and narrative requirements. The Background Vista Artist must be able to create 3D generated and matte painted backgrounds that will match the product tone with various degrees of detail that fit within the production timelines.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $50/hr - $56/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.

The Background Vista Artist's Responsibilities:

• Create pre-visualized vista concept mockups to interpret art intention in the conceptual stage.
• Translate written and verbal direction into visual solutions.
• Generate skies, terrain and materials in a variety of content creation software, sculpt and layout assets based on art direction and concepts.
• Work closely with art direction and design ensuring concepts are meeting gameplay and visual expectations.
• Create 3D assets, digital matte paintings and image projection.
• Ability to overcome visual and technical challenges with multiple solutions.
• Work within established production deadlines.

The Background Vista Artist's Experience:

• 3+ years experience in video game production and or film production.
• Ability to create, manipulate 3D and 2.5D elements to complement matte painted midgrounds and backgrounds.
• Expertise in visual composition and lighting design.
• Deep understanding of colour, tone and lighting.
• Deep understanding of visual storytelling.
• Highly collaborative individual who values feedback and direction.
• UE5 knowledge is an asset.
