Virtual Desktop IT Support

Location: Toronto, ON/ Hybrid

Duration: 6 months with Possible Extension/ Possible Contract to hire

Candidate Profile Details:

Years of experience: 2+ years

Team size: Small team of 2 people

Summary of day-to-day Responsibilities:

As the Employee Enablement organization advances towards the future of Modern Managed productivity platforms leveraging Windows 11, Virtual Desktop, there is a need for assistance in optimizing the performance of these endpoints, using data and evidence-driven techniques. We are seeking an IT support analyst to assist clients in developing a larger virtual desktop experience. This role will involve onboarding and offboarding users to Virtual Desktop Interface (VDI) and evaluation of and integration with modern endpoint management tools. It will also require some familiarity with platform system internals and root-cause analysis. The candidate will also work with internal support areas, business technical support teams, and external vendors.

Responsibilities:

  1. Onboarding and offboarding users to the virtual Desktop platform (VDI).
  2. Review and monitor VDI performance and access issues using Enterprise-wide performance systems and tools.
  3. Identify user requirements in conjunction with desktop and vendor teams to improve performance in any areas identified.
  4. Assess and review monthly usage and ensure the technologies are not providing overlapping capabilities and driving cost reductions.
  5. Provide 1st level consultation requests and support.

Must Have:

  • IT Support experience
  • Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, particularly Windows 10/11
  • Experience with Citrix and virtual desktop usage, performance, and issue analysis tooling and framework.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Excel
  • MS Office Suite products experience.
  • Organized, self-motivated with the ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of Active Directory, ADFS, Azure AD
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Build Automation
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow
  • NextThink experience
