Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Video Editor with a background in documentary, corporate, and series productions. This role involves crafting engaging, polished and creative narratives across various formats, working closely with directors, producers, and the creative team to bring our projects to life. If you have a knack for blending factual storytelling with creative vision and can adapt to different production styles, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Edit footage for documentaries, corporate videos, and episodic series, ensuring clarity, coherence, and creativity in storytelling.
  2. Collaborate with directors and producers to understand and enhance the vision for each project.
  3. Assemble rough cuts and final versions, incorporating feedback and fine-tuning to meet high-quality standards.
  4. Apply sound editing, color grading, and graphics as needed.
  5. Maintain organized workflows, project files, and documentation for future project accessibility.
  6. Stay informed on industry trends, new editing techniques, and emerging software tools.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience in editing documentary, corporate, and series content, with a strong portfolio to demonstrate skills and versatility.
  2. Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and After Effects. Knowledge of Adobe Audition, Illustrator and Photoshop would be a massive bonus, but not essential.
  3. Exceptional storytelling and pacing abilities, with a meticulous eye for detail.
  4. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Strong communication skills, openness to feedback, and adaptability to different editorial styles.
  6. Familiarity with color correction, sound design, and basic motion graphics.
  7. Strong organizational skills.
  8. Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or valid work permit and legally entitled to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Arts, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field preferred. Equivalent Post-secondary Diploma with practical experience will be considered.
  2. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and After Effects; knowledge of motion graphics, color grading, and audio editing.
  3. 5+ years of experience in video editing, with a portfolio showcasing diverse projects, especially in documentary, corporate, or series content.
  4. Strong storytelling skills, a detail-oriented approach, and the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  5. Familiarity with handling different formats and technical specifications for various platforms in broadcast, streaming and social media.
  6. Solid experience working on long-form projects or series productions with episodic structure.
  7. At least three creative and employment references.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
