About the workplace

As a VP, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), you’ll provide strategic direction, leadership & oversight for Vancity’s financial planning, forecasting, financial analysis & management reporting functions. You will lead a team of financial professionals responsible for building strong relationships with cross-functional team members, including senior leaders, to develop a financial outlook for Vancity to ensure that the collective actions & plans of all business units are in line with targets, strategic objectives & regulatory requirements.

This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role may require you to work in-office at least once a week.

A typical day would involve:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process including development of targets aligned with Vancity’s strategy and ensures that financial plans are robust and resilient with regards to potential risks and scenarios.
  • Develop and manage analyses and reports to support management with insights to enable ongoing tracking and monitoring of financial and business performance across different views (including line of business, product, channel, etc.)
  • Analyze financial trends and prepare financial forecasts on a monthly basis to inform the development of actionable insights for management to enhance revenue and growth opportunities and/or implement operational efficiency opportunities.
  • Build financial models to support the evaluation of potential investments and new business initiatives with consideration of underlying operational drivers and resulting financial metrics, in addition to providing strategic business advice to support qualitative analyses of the same.
  • Strong business acumen, leadership skills and interpersonal abilities as a valued business partner to enable development of credibility with and influence on peers and other leaders with the objective of creating alignment with strategic and financial plans and targets.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation is an asset.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis, corporate finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years in a leadership role managing FP&A teams and working with senior executives
  • Experience within financial services, banking, or fintech is highly advantageous
  • Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • Expertise in financial modeling and analysis (Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP)
  • Experience with financial systems and enterprise planning tools
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align financial planning with corporate strategy
  • Experience partnering with executives and influencing key business decisions
  • Ability to drive financial performance insights across different business units
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to build scenario models to assess business resilience and operational efficiency opportunities

The salary range for this role is $177,200 to $266,000 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
