POSITION OVERVIEW
Reitmans (Canada) Limited has a unique opportunity to bring on board a Vice-President Finance to oversee all accounting, reporting, tax, treasury, and risk functions, while ensuring the financial systems and processes support our business and strategic aspirations. Reporting to the CFO, the Vice-President collaborates with the executive leadership team to develop and execute innovative long-term financial strategies that support the RCL's overarching business goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading and supervising the finance team, in such areas as hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating staff performance.
- Leading the implementation of a new financial system and the evolution of accounting and financial reporting processes.
- Preparing and presenting accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and dashboards to the board of directors, senior management and other stakeholders.
- Overseeing daily cash flow and working capital management, ensuring sufficient liquidity and solvency of the business, approving wire payments.
- Managing daily treasury, including banking relationships, foreign exchange and hedging.
- Managing the tax compliance and planning, ensuring adherence to tax laws and regulations, and minimizing tax liabilities and risks.
- Managing the external audit process, ensuring the quality and integrity of the financial statements and disclosures, and resolving any audit issues or findings.
- Oversee risk management, including Loss Prevention, internal controls and insurance.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and a CPA designation.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or a related field, with at least 5 years of leadership or management experience.
- Demonstrated capability to partner effectively with C-level executives to drive financial and strategic performance.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and standards, financial reporting and analysis, tax compliance and planning, treasury and cash management, and risk management.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information and concepts to various audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends, and provide insights and recommendations.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team, aligned with the overall strategic goals of the organization.
- High ethical standards and integrity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Proficient in using various accounting and financial software, tools, and systems.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Bilingual.
