Position Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President, Technology and Head of Enterprise Security, the Vice President, Engineering and Technology Innovation will lead, guide and direct all facets pertaining to the development and implementation of cutting-edge technology solutions. This role will focus on collaborating with third-party vendors to rapidly prototype and deliver innovative services that add significant value to our client offerings. This leadership position plays a critical role in driving CIBC Mellon’s technology strategy and is responsible for defining and implementing the overall enterprise architecture vision, standards, and roadmaps that support business growth, innovation and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the technology innovation strategy, aligning it with Company goals and market trends within the financial sector.
  • Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with third-party technology partners, fostering collaboration to drive enhanced service delivery and product innovation.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to foster a culture of innovation and experimentation within the IT organization.
  • Lead the ideation and development of prototype solutions, ensuring on-time delivery and alignment with client requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and compliance, to seamlessly integrate innovative solutions into existing workflows.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities for innovation that can benefit our clients.
  • Utilize negotiation and influencing skills to build strong relationships, resolve conflicts, and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes with internal and external stakeholders including clients, vendors and partners.
  • Build and lead a high-performing technology innovation team, providing guidance and mentorship to foster a culture of creativity and problem-solving.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and gather feedback, using insights to refine prototypes and develop scalable solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategies for adopting and integrating new technologies (e.g. cloud computing, AI/ML, IoT, Fintech).
  • Lead budget planning and ensure accountability for operational functions to ensure we adhere within our allocated budget.
  • Define and maintain a comprehensive enterprise architectural framework that encompasses business, data, application and technology domains.
  • Establish technology standards and approve new products and system architecture to ensure alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
  • Participate in relevant governing bodies at CIBC and BNY to ensure CIBC Mellon is adequately represented and its interests are effectively advocated.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Technology Specialists, including setting performance objectives, conducting performance reviews and coordinating training requirements and development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
• University degree in a technology related discipline
• 15+ years of experience in technology innovation or enterprise architecture, preferably within the financial services industry
