Job description

Are you looking for a new adventure abroad? Looking for an opportunity at a great facility? Looking to work with like minded individuals who love to have a good time at work? Do you enjoy having a good work/life balance? Like having a low stress work environment? Then Granville Vet may be the right fit for you!

Granville Veterinary Clinic is a privately owned small animal clinic (dogs and cats only) located in the west end of Edmonton, Alberta. Edmonton is passionately referred to as The City of Champions, and it shows. Our city is located in central Alberta - a home close enough to the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountain Ranges for weekend getaways & adventures. Although there is adventure to be had in the Rockies, Edmonton is a festival city and is known for its celebration of all walks of life - whether it is a sunny summer day, or a chilly winter weekend, you’re guaranteed to find an exciting event/activity to be a part of.

Our practice is open Mon-Fri from 8 am - 6 pm, Sat 9 am- 2 pm, closed Sunday and statutory holidays. We offer CR digital x-ray (soon to be upgraded to full DR radiographs), digital dental x-ray, in house catalyst/lasercyte blood machines and Cornerstone software. We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic team player to join our current staff of four veterinarians, four technicians and four receptionists.

Our mission at Granville is to offer exceptional medical care to our patients - while still maintaining a healthy work/life balance for our staff members. Our staff is a close group of people who all share the mindset that we should enjoy coming into work, and like to have fun while being here.

Skills required would include performing routine surgeries (feline/canine spay, neuter, lumps, bladder stones, etc), dental procedures and a variety of medical appointments. Other requirements would include having good communication skills, being a team player, having problem solving skills and a friendly manner when dealing with both clients and other staff members. At Granville Vet, we treat all our patients as family members and strive to build relationships with our clients. It is our goal to spend the time required to get to know our clients and work up cases properly - for this reason we allow ample time for new patients and medical appointments.

The position would consist of three to four 8 hour shifts during the week as well as a Saturday rotation (between 1 to 2 Saturdays a month). We offer competitive starting wages and extensive benefits (including continuing education allowance, scrub allowance, VIN account, coverage for annual veterinary licensing fees and paid vacation). A health insurance plan is available if needed. We’re prepared to discuss the support for relocation fees and support for your transition into life with us in Edmonton!

To us, a successful candidate for the position would be fluent in English, hold a valid Veterinary degree from an Accredited program and be confident in their skills as a Veterinarian.

If you’re interested in speaking with the team, you can reach Jen (our Office Manager) at lynnjmae@gmail.com or Amanda (the practice owner) at amandahotke@hotmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you, and hope you’ll want to join our amazing, hardworking (but still laid back) and fun team!
