Reporting to the VDC Director, the Virtual Digital Coordinator (VDC Coordinator) will facilitate the implementation of Bird’s Digital Construction program on project sites. This includes providing BIM/VDC services for nuclear projects, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations and safety standards while addressing the unique requirements of nuclear construction.
This role is based out of office in Ajax, ON and site as required.
What You Will Be Working On:
Perform design coordination and assist in identifying constructability issues with the project team and subcontractors through clash detection of 3D models.
Collaborate with the site team to develop the site logistics plan in a model environment and video or plan exports as required.
Responsible as “model administrator” for assigned projects.
Assist in training other project staff and subcontractors on digital construction-related software and workflows as required.
Ensure model accuracy for project-specific requirements, including the quality of As-Built conditions.
Assist the Estimating department with quantity take-off.
Complete 4D schedule visualization linking 3D models to live schedules.
Prepare BIM Execution Plans in collaboration with consultants and trade partners.
Prepare and lead coordination meetings with our project teams.
Perform laser scanning activities and reporting.
Perform drone photography and video flights on ongoing projects.
Complete progress tracking activities on site for our Digital Construction tasks.
Set up and maintain relevant collaboration platforms like Revizto, BIM360, and OpenSpace.
Support specialized nuclear VDC initiatives by adapting workflows to meet stringent safety, regulatory, and technical requirements unique to nuclear projects.
What We Are Looking For:
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
Completion of Construction Management Certificate Program or equivalent an asset.
Minimum 3 years’ experience working with digital construction related software, primarily Revit, Revizto, Fuzor, Assemble, and Navisworks (or equivalents).
Construction Management background with experience as a Digital Construction or BIM/VDC Coordinator in a design/build environment in the ICI sector, preferably with a Contractor.
Construction knowledge and/or related work experience an asset.
Experience in nuclear construction projects is an asset.
Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and a general understanding of MS Project/Primavera P6.
