UX DESIGNER / USER EXPERIENCE SPECIALIST

We’re currently seeking a skilled and experienced UX DESIGNER / USER EXPERIENCE SPECIALIST to support our client, SaskPower, with a focus on its SaskNuclear IT Program. This role is key to the success of user-centered design initiatives tied to the planning and execution of digital solutions within a highly regulated, high-profile utility context.
The successful candidate will bring a proven track record as a UX design lead for corporate software and web applications. Working closely with stakeholders and technical teams, the UX Designer will deliver actionable insights and designs through wireframes, customer testing, and journey mapping—ensuring platforms are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with user needs and business objectives.
This is a hands-on, design leadership role involving in-person collaboration and testing, journey mapping, heuristic evaluations, and the delivery of both low- and high-fidelity mockups.

LOCATION & WORK HOURS:
• Location: Preferred onsite in Regina, Saskatchewan, supporting SaskNuclear operations
• Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST
• Some after-hours work may be required

REQUIREMENTS:
• Proven experience as a UX Designer / UX Specialist, ideally in a lead role
• Demonstrated success designing and improving corporate software/web applications
• Proficiency with Figma for wireframe development and interactive prototyping
• Experience applying user-centered design methodologies and usability best practices
• Strong background in journey mapping, persona development, and heuristic evaluation
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and their application in public-sector systems
• Ability to lead and participate in in-person customer testing sessions
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience in regulated or utility sectors is an asset

DELIVERABLES
Key Responsibilities:
The UX Designer will support the SaskNuclear IT Program by delivering user-focused design solutions and strategic input. The role requires coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that business and user needs are effectively translated into digital designs.
Deliverables Include:
• UX approach and overall design strategy
• Customer journey maps aligned with business workflows
• Creation of personas to represent target user segments
• Heuristic analysis of existing or proposed solutions
• Facilitation of in-person customer testing sessions
• Development of low- and high-fidelity mockups using Figma
• Provision of UX advisory services based on industry best practices
• Adherence to accessibility and usability standards
• Other tasks as assigned by the SaskNuclear IT Program

ABOUT THE ROLE:
This is a twenty-seven (27) month contract position with a possible extension, commencing May 5, 2025, supporting the SaskNuclear IT Program. Candidates should be available for preferably onsite work in Regina, Saskatchewan, with standard working hours of Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CST).
