We are looking for an experienced US Associate Lawyer to join our growing boutique law firm. Must have significant experience with US immigration law. We are seeking an experienced associate to join our team in the office in Calgary, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have 2 plus years of experience in immigration law and must be a Canadian or US-licensed lawyer in good standing and good reputation.

This position requires a strong understanding of immigration law and policy and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. It also requires a strong understanding of client management with advising and strategy and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Attention to detail and superior communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical skills for this position. The position requires a detail-oriented and motivated self-starter with a sense of urgency and excellent client management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong oral advocacy and troubleshooting skills in assisting clients
  • Ability to keep up to date with changes in the law
  • Preparation of presentations for corporate clients
  • Ensure precedents are correct and up to date according to any recent changes in the law
  • Client management via telephone, meetings, and email correspondence
  • Propose a plan of action or appropriate strategies
  • The lawyer will have an active engagement in billing

Qualifications:

  • Law degree along with a US License
  • Effective problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients
