OVERVIEW
Our client, an award winning, reputable multi-disciplinary firm in Toronto is seeking an experienced Urban Planner with project management experience to join their busy and collaborative team of professionals. You will work alongside a dedicated and highly talented team and will be working on a broad variety of project types.
THE ROLE
As a talented Intermediate or Senior Urban Planner, you will be managing a full range of Planning Act applications including Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments, undertaking research, planning policy analysis, report writing, technical report review, urban design guideline review, application preparation, submission and community engagement in support of development proposals and projects.
The role will also require organizing workloads and general oversight/mentoring of other more junior staff. Making presentations to Councils, Committees, Ontario Land Tribunal and community groups will also be integral to the role, and you will provide critical recommendations and advice on land use feasibility and property acquisition projects. Providing leadership and contributing to mentorship of Senior, Junior and other staff members with positive reinforcement and coaching is also expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have the following credentials:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture or related discipline, from an accredited university
- 5+ years of relevant work experience with knowledge of the Planning process and the legislative and policy framework in Ontario is preferred
- Registration is a plus
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects both as part of a team or independently towards the preparation of project deliverables
- A variety of urban planning work experience behind you is preferable
- Ability to maintain positive networks and relationships
- Leadership skills are an asset
