About the role
We’re looking for a Unit Claims Manager MIG, Accident Benefits to join our growing team!
As a MIG Unit Claims Manager in the Mississauga office, you will have a big impact on the successful management of the Accident Benefits Claims operation. This role would be ideal for someone looking to progress their leadership career within Accident Benefits.
What you'll do here:
- Participate in the development and implementation of business plans and manage operations to achieve key business goals.
- Provide effective leadership, motivate staff and be responsible for hiring employees and delivering performance feedback.
- Provide coaching on technical and professional skills for your team and facilitate continuous learning by building robust development plans for your employees.
- Develop, recommend and implement management and organizational initiatives to support company strategies including changes to organizational structure and process/technology improvements.
- Act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters such as liability determination, policy interpretation and settlement negotiation to help resolve claims-related issues.
- Liaise with other claims experts on technical and administrative issues.
- Maintain a respectful and productive business relationship with vendors, service providers, legal firms and internal client groups.
What you bring to the table:
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in claims handling or prior management experience
- Proven leadership skills and experience in performance management and developing staff
- Experience leading change initiatives with impacts to large groups
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of provincial legislation governing auto insurance
- University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
- Completed or are working toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
