The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Inpatient and Ambulatory Medical Care, under the supervision of the Clinical Leader, the Unit Aide works within a team to provide a safe, clean environment for all patients and their families being served by the PMU Inpatient Unit.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Cleaning and disinfecting in accordance with Infection Control guidelines
2. Ensuring patient rooms are clean and tidy
3. Maintaining supplies and equipment required for the unit
4. Transporting defective equipment to Biomedical Engineering
5. Assisting with escort and transporting of patients
6. Assisting Ward Clerks in delivering requisitions, specimens, x rays, etc.

Your Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous Unit Aide experience preferred.
• Good communication skills required.
• Commitment to Family Centred Care required.
• Must be able to organize and prioritize work effectively.
• Competency in other languages considered an asset.

Short-listed candidates will be required to complete a written skills testing questionnaire. This questionnaire will assess topics such as WHIMS, infection control, privacy and confidentiality, and more. Short-listed candidates will be contacted by email to arrange this testing and must receive a minimum score of 80% on the test to be eligible to advance to an interview.
