The Underwriting Assistant will be a team player within the Underwriting Support Unit of the Commercial E&O, Cyber and Design Professional Divisions and will perform tasks that directly support the Underwriting team. As owner and principal facilitator of assigned accounts, the Underwriting Assistant will perform front-to-end activities throughout the life-cycle of renewal and prospect accounts from submission to expiration. These tasks will be performed with guidance from the Underwriter. The Underwriting Assistant will be engaged in ongoing development of his/her knowledge of commercial insurance related to his/her specialized line of business.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
UA will be expected to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities based on the requirements of the BU/LOB that he/she supports and with assistance from the underwriter where needed as part of his/her development.
· Liaise with Underwriters, Brokers and Reinsurers on behalf of the Underwriting Support Unit as needed to communicate account status and complete or follow up for outstanding subjectivities.
· Liaise with Underwriters to confirm policy issuance instructions for policies, endorsements, forms, notices, certificates, etc and effectively complete coding/issuance.
· Administer global program accounts by performing territorial analysis and assisting with the program overview as required, engaging the Global Program network and any network partner to see local policy implementation to completion.
· Calculate base rating and apply experience modifications as part of Underwriting package completed by Underwriting Support Unit for Underwriter review – future responsibility.
· Review and Analyze informational reports to glean anecdotal information as required by Undewriters (e.g., summarize Loss Runs).
· Respond to internal and external client inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
· Act as an anchor between shared service centres and onshore Underwriting team to make sure the support to Underwriting is seamless.
· Rate premium changes for premium bearing change requests.
· Execute post-bind account management workflow and any handover to Shared Service teams.
· Quality control document output to ensure accuracy of work and that of shared services.
· Monitor the maintenance of electronic file for accounts as required.
· Maintain or exceed the company key performance indicators for overseeing premium coding and policy issuance.
· Develop strong working relationships and collaborate with Underwriters, Global Program Network, Shared Services, and members of the Underwriting Support Unit.
· Assist with Account Receivable collections and troubleshoot as required to ensure payment received reconciles with premium bound.
· Assist with training and knowledge transfer with Shared Services.
· Potential to participate in projects where the Unit may be requested to provide Subject Matter Experts related to the Underwriting Support Unit.
· Potential to participate in projects that relate to process improvement, new system implementation or upgrade, and procedure documentation as required by the Underwriting Support Unit.
You will report to the Middle Office Operations Manager.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
· Solid competency in MS Office applications: Word, Outlook, Excel and Adobe Standard required.
· Basic competency in Adobe Standard or similar pdf conversion tool.
· Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills in order to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Proven organizational and problem solving skills.
· Proven prioritization and time management skills with accurate results
· 2+ years related insurance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Advanced knowledge of commercial insurance policy forms and regulatory requirements.
· CIP Designation preferred but not required.
