Underwriter Associate

Our client located in the heart of Downtown Calgary is looking for a Commercial Underwriting Associate to join their team on a 3-month contract.
In this role, you will be covering the administrative tasks needed for the underwriting team to make the correct decisions for their clients.

Responsibilities

1. Review, evaluate and summarize risk exposures, controls, loss history, and financial condition to aid underwriting decisions around submission acceptance or declination.
2. Follow instructions from Underwriters in areas of policy rating, subjective pricing, policy construction, coverages & exclusions, mandatory forms, etc. to accurately quote and issue policies (bonds).
3. Provide account servicing support in collaboration with Underwriter and Manager, with responsibility for end-to-end servicing processes for new business, renewals, and endorsements for basic to moderately complex business and products.
4. Support Underwriter with broker/agent/distributor/customer interactions by providing basic customer service skills. Respond to written, verbal telephone inquiries appropriately and on time under close supervision by Underwriter and/or Manager.
5. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Previous insurance experience is preferred
2. Knowledge of Guidewire platform preferred
3. Knowledge of data collection and analysis
4. Microsoft experience
5. Strong verbal and written communication
6. Customer service experience
7. Detail oriented and strong multi-tasking skills
