Our client is looking for a Junior Underwriter in Oakville, Ontario.
This is a hybrid role where you will be required to go into the office 3 times a week.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 Hours/week, 9-5 Monday to Friday

Responsibilities
- Collaborating closely with agents, brokers, lenders, and clients, you'll gather essential data and offer expert advice.
- Examine policy orders thoroughly, liaise with external entities to detect potential fraudulent transactions by reaching out to solicitors on record, lenders, and the Insured as needed, acquire sub-searches, and utilize identity authentication services if necessary.
- Draft and elucidate non-standard Schedule B exceptions and Endorsements, and collaborate with Solicitors to discuss them.
- Aid in the issuance of Managed Mortgage Solutions policies by assessing title searches, surveys, writ of execution searches, commitments to insure, and writ of execution searches.
- Remain informed about underwriting guidelines by actively participating in underwriting meetings; stay current with new or updated statutes throughout Canada.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a real estate law firm preferred
- Professionalism and customer service driven
- Good understanding of the mechanics of a real estate transaction and knowledge of Land Titles
- Strong communication – written and verbal
- Attention to detail while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Technologically savvy
