Position Overview
As a US Tax Associate, you will assist with the execution and planning of various Tax Matters in our client's organization. You will also contribute to a variety of client mandates, both ongoing and transactional.
You will work mainly with senior members of the Tax Team in a variety of client mandates involving Canadian companies operating abroad and foreign companies investing into Canada. Your main responsibilities will include the following:
A day in the life of a US Tax Associate:
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts
- Assist with tax planning and research for clients in various industries
- Prepare and review tax workpapers and ensure accuracy of supporting documentation
- Communicate with clients to gather information, clarify data, and answer basic tax questions
- Stay current with tax laws and regulations and assist with compliance updates
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field (Master’s in Taxation a plus)
- CPA eligible or actively pursuing CPA certification
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Prior experience in tax or accounting (preferred but not required)
