Job description

As a Turnaround Planner you will provide discipline specific knowledge to the Turnaround Group. Your goal will be to develop, plan and schedule maintenance activities leading up to a Turnaround event. As well, this role is utilized during the event to manage scope change and plan any found work, ensuring that the schedule is updated based on the approved scope. Your success will be to grow within the role, and eventually provide coaching and mentorship to more junior Planners, or new hires.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of work lists and review of extra jobs
  • Prepare, modify, and revise discipline specific work packages in accordance with planning guidelines
  • Collaborate with discipline planners to ensure all aspects of the job have been captured
  • Plan all activities using scheduling software (Primavera P6)
  • Estimate the type and quantity of resources to perform each activity
  • Estimate work periods/units of time needed to complete individual activities with estimated resources
  • Identify material requirements and generates material requisitions
  • Ensure the Work Package Management Software is up to date
  • Ensure scheduling is informed of any changes that may occur or develop in the plan
  • Communicate between Turnaround Block Lead and Coordinators on all changes
  • Review and step out engineering work
  • Ensure work is planned in accordance with all IOR instructions
  • Aid in scope change management during the event

Your Skills:

  • Commitment to safety as a core value
  • Able to work under pressure with multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Strong analytical skills to identify any gaps or risks in turnaround plans
  • Strong relationship building skills to work with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical drawings and specifications

Your Experience:

  • 10+ year experience within the industry either as a planner or as a trade is a requirement
  • Industrial Environment exposure and experience is a requirement
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent is an asset
  • MS Excel, and Adobe Acrobat is a requirement
  • Primavera P6 knowledge is an asset
