Job description

The Truck and Transport Technician is a team player who assists with planning, preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, and other associated tasks as outlined below. The Technician assists with maintenance for the fleet of amphibious vehicles to provide our guests as well as our team with a safe, reliable, and aesthetically pleasing fleet.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with maintenance of Transport Canada Inspected Passenger Vehicles in a manner that ensures the Safety and Security of the team, Enjoyment of the Passengers, and Respect for the Environment.
  • Our Technicians adhere to all company policies.
  • Maintains apprentice paperwork as required.
  • Inspects and maintains vehicles/vessels to ensure they meet standards laid out by Transport Canada and the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
  • Routinely inspects all areas of the vessels for unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains and updates maintenance logs.
  • Maintains and replenishes inventory and takes part in annual inventory audits.
  • Ensures a clean workplace at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Standing, bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to or exceeding 50lbs may be required. The marine hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. During the operating season, hours outside of a regular Monday-Friday schedule can be expected.

Qualifications

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following skill sets to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Valid Red Seal Truck and Transport Trade Certification
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • Problem solving - identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain Transport Canada and NSUARB inspected vehicles.
  • Physical demands - occasionally may need to move or lift up to 50lbs.
  • Planning/organizing - prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently.
  • Quality control - demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality, and applies feedback to improve performance.
  • Quantity - meets productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner, able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Dependability - consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.
  • Safety and Security - observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
