Transporter

Overview

The Nursing Transporter is responsible for establishing good rapport with patients, the public, and other hospital personnel while performing clerical duties as required. The transporter will be available to transport patients within the hospital and assist staff with patient care. Responsibilities include:

1. Safely transporting patients within the hospital, utilizing approved transportation methods.
2. Effectively assisting in the lifting or turning of patients.
3. Practicing universal precautions at all times.
4. Checking patient identification bands before transporting, following the National Patient Safety Goals.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

1. Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS).
2. Minimal computer experience preferred.
3. General clerical experience.
4. Patient care experience is desirable.
5. Management of Assaultive Behavior certification required.
