YOUR ROLE
Responsible for supervising, planning and prioritizing all inbound and outbound freight distribution operations and warehouse usage. Also, provide guidance for packing and equipment use. Supervise, train, and schedule distribution staff to ensure an efficient and profitable operation. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Provide responsible supervision and control for all department activities.
- Always develop and maintain excellent service to internal and external customers.
- Plan the daily work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices and instructions from customers.
- Assess priorities based on time sensitivity and available resources.
- Review pending jobs or trends, plan for reorganization of warehouse space and needed changes in levels of supplies, equipment, or staffing needs.
- Train new staff in assigned duties or delegate training responsibility to other experienced staff.
- Assess the progress of trainees and add additional duties as appropriate.
- Monitor quantity and quality of jobs being performed throughout the day, providing guidance and advice as necessary.
- Assign supervisory duties to staff acting in a lead capacity.
- Communicate with the manager throughout the day regarding progress and any problems or issues.
- Conduct regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess group’s overall status, discuss ideas for improvement and inform staff of new developments.
- Provide quality training and development activities of assigned staff.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports and address all employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 4 years related experience
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory or lead experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Finance or related discipline.
- Equivalent combination of work experience and education
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience
Skills:
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
- Forklift Driver Certification
- DOT Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Materials Certification
- Ability to operate forklift, hand truck and pallet jack
- Must possess good written and oral communication skills
Requirements:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Strong knowledge of the operational requirements of all existing accounts.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of US and/or international currency, weight, volume and distance measurements.
- Basic understanding of business financial principles including P&Ls, budgets, payroll, financial reporting and expense control.
- PC Literate. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific applications.
- Capable of communicating and interacting effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and customers.
- Demonstrated leadership ability. Ability to allocate work assignments and/or tasks responsibilities to others to maximize the organization's and the individual's effectiveness.
- Customer focused. Ability to make customers and their needs the primary focus of one’s actions; developing and sustaining productive relationships.
- Take actions that are consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop alternative solutions. Explores alternative positions to reach outcomes that gain stakeholder support and acceptance.
