Reporting to the Director of Operational Training, this role will support our ongoing commitment to employee development and excellence across our operations. The Training & Development Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring training projects are aligned with strategic planning for the department and are clear, concise and consistent when deployed, ensuring maximum impact with the most efficiency.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  1. Work with a variety of department leaders to understand training requirements for key field positions and work to ensure training aligns with each role’s requirements.
  2. Build training material and courses for both technical and soft skills training needs.
  3. Design, develop, deliver and evaluate training programs for a companywide new software implementation.
  4. Work with the team to develop and rollout a field Train the Trainer program throughout North America.
  5. Provide insight into opportunities to enhance learning paths to optimize the onboarding experience as well as use isolated training for performance improvement needs.
  6. Collaborate with department leaders to update and/or archive training content regularly to maintain a relevant and high-quality learning experience.
  7. Using your creative mind, build engaging training materials including micro-courses, tests, videos, and presentations using various content creation tools including Camtasia, Articulate and the full suite of Adobe products to name a few.
  8. Using strong analytical skills, reflect on interdepartmental overlaps when identifying training needs.
  9. Create fun interactive and engaging training material and content for front line service staff to promote a sales first business focus.
  10. Support in the oversight of the operational Resource Center, which serves as an intranet for field team members.
WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

  1. 5-8 Years experience in a training focused role.
  2. Proven experience with Learning Management Systems with a solid understanding of LMS administration and troubleshooting.
  3. Proficiency in content development software such as Articulate Storyline, TechSmith Camtasia, Adobe and Microsoft product suites.
  4. Strong organizational and project management skills (agile preferred), with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, comfortable facilitating live and recorded presentations.
  6. Ability to adapt and leverage technology to support an engaging and seamless learning experience.
  7. Analytical skills to gather informative metrics and consider the needs of the business in a big picture perspective.
  8. Detail-oriented, with excellent proofreading and formatting skills to maintain high standards in training content quality.
  9. Experience in the self-storage industry is an asset but not required.
