Associate General Counsel, Product, Privacy and AI - Anaconda

The Role : Anaconda seeks an Associate General Counsel, Product, Privacy, and AI to be the key legal leader partnering with our product, engineering, marketing, and IT and security teams, spearheading our efforts to serve our users in building trustworthy technology. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this is an opportunity to be an integral member of a small, rapidly scaling, best-in-class legal team that will have a high impact within the organization. This is a fully remote opportunity for someone within the US.

What You Will Do :

• Be an integral member of company-wide and legal team leadership, helping scale the business and the legal function at Anaconda.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for product, privacy, AI, and IP matters while building out a high-impact legal team supporting the same.
• Lead, manage, and build out a high-impact Product Legal function alongside Product and Engineering leadership.
• Build out operational and compliance related requirements regarding internal and external data usage.
• Provide internal and external thought leadership regarding Anaconda’s AI usage among a variety of stakeholders.
• Own IP strategy, including developing a defined point of view on issues related to our open source community, our patent and trademark portfolio.
• Partner closely with commercial legal to ensure product legal approach matches commercial legal approach.
• Collaborate with our Security and IT teams on data flows, risk management, and compliance offerings.

What You Need :

• JD from an accredited law school and bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
• 10+ years relevant legal experience, including multiple years of progressive responsibility in an in-house setting.
• Experience as a seasoned product counsel with expertise across product, privacy, AI, IP, and emerging legal issues.
• Proven track record of scaling teams and leading sub-functions within a legal organization.
• Ability to operate as an individual contributor and a leader, demonstrating a hands-on approach.
• A defined point of view on issues systemic to data flows and data science.
• Passion for mentorship and team development.

What Will Make You Stand Out :

• Exposure to and experience with open-source software legal considerations is highly recommended.
• Experience in the DevOps tools and community is a plus.
• Experience in a high-growth company environment.

The US base salary range for this role is $275,000 to $350,000 + bonus + equity + benefits, and title may adjust based on candidate experience.
