This job may require travel to Toronto, or in other locations across Ontario for in office days, training, or events. In office days are typically held monthly. Travel reimbursement will be provided in accordance with WSIB policies.

Salary Grade: N07 From: $87,999.00 To: $109,999.00

Job Summary

Reporting to Manager Compensation, the role will lead and/or participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of various total rewards programs, services and processes for bargaining unit (BU), non-bargaining unit (NBU) and executive employees.

Provide technical advice and consultation to Human Resources (HR) partners and business areas on items regarding total rewards programs, policies and processes including exceptions, implementations and sensitive/contentious matters.

Lead and/or participate in total rewards related projects as required. Partner and collaborate with other HR or business areas on their projects that include compensation, benefits and other rewards components.

Major Responsibilities

  • Act as a resource on matters relating to the WSIB’s total rewards programs. Consult with internal and external stakeholders as required. Provide technical advice and consultation to business areas and divisional business partners on total rewards programs, policies, processes and practices, including but not limited to:
  • administration of annual total rewards programs such as NBU merit, short-term incentive (STI), self-funded leave, etc.,
  • job evaluation/classification programs for BU and NBU jobs, job analyses and documentation,
  • application of salary and benefits administration policy/guidelines,
  • benefit plan entitlement for employees and retirees,
  • liaise between employees and benefit carriers/vendors to investigate and resolve escalated benefit claim issues, and ensure timely resolution,
  • collaboration with People Systems teams on total rewards requirements and reporting needs to conduct analysis or pull information,
  • consultation on sensitive/contentious matters related to benefits, job creation and individual salary treatment,
  • facilitation of educational sessions as requested/required which includes development on training materials.
  • May be required to manage the effective planning, design, communication, implementation, maintenance and administration of WSIB’s job evaluation programs.
  • Actively participate on project teams, reviewing total rewards programs affecting bargaining and non-bargaining unit staff or other Human Resources programs. Work with external consultants on projects (e.g., benchmarking) including providing guidance and being a resource for information.
  • Provide statistical analysis, forecasts and research on total rewards matters including sourcing and analyzing data obtained from internal sources (e.g., People Systems), and external sources (e.g., public/private sector organizations and external consultants).
  • Participate as WSIB representative in annual and ad hoc total rewards surveys. Complete market research as required to support projects or business needs.

Job Requirements

Minimum Level:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or Social Sciences

Experience

  • 5 – 7 years of related experience.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)

Preferred Level

Experience:

  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS); and CHRP/CHRL
