Toronto | 3 + Years

Our client, a well-regarded Personal Injury Law Firm, is looking to add a Tort Law Clerk to their team.

To provide clerical support to the assigned Lawyer where the Law Clerk will be responsible for numerous tasks in order to build and organize client files.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide Lawyer with regular updates on the status of files;
  • Name & file various documents in Filevine on a daily basis;
  • File court documents using online portal;
  • Draft various correspondence on a daily basis to all parties including but not limited to: letters to adjuster, letters to counsel, letters to clients, etc.;
  • Provide updates for OHIP Subrogation on Slip and Fall/Trip and Fall files;
  • Meet with clients to sign various documents;
  • Request plate search, driver’s license search and corporate search;
  • Draft various pleadings including: Trial Records, Notice of Examinations for Discovery, Discovery Plan, etc.;
  • Draft Medical Legal Retainer Letters to Assessment Centres including: House Keeping Assessment, Orthopedic Assessment, Chronic Pain Assessment, etc.;
  • Assist in preparation for LAT hearings and Trial;
  • Ensure Full and Final Releases from all parties contributing to settlement are received;
  • Review Affidavit of Documents;
  • Follow up with settlement documents;
  • Assign tasks to Junior Lawyers;
  • Manage Lawyer’s calendars;
  • Assist Lawyer in any other requests as required.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • 2-3 Years experience;
  • Law Clerk and/or Paralegal Diploma;
  • Experience with Filevine, Monday and PCLaw is considered an asset;
  • Experience working in an office environment considered an asset.
