We are currently seeking a Terminal Manager in Timmins, ON to join our team.
The Terminal Manager is a hands-on position that will oversee all the day-to-day activities of the terminal. The Terminal Manager is responsible for managing all terminal activities including freight delivery, equipment utilization and maintenance, employee scheduling, dispatch, sales, and customer service. Leading and managing the terminal operations will come from a hands-on approach with the terminal team. The Terminal Manager will report to the North Eastern Ontario Manager.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Provide positive customer service that results in mutually beneficial long-term relationships.
- Manage terminal employees in areas including safety, scheduling, coaching, and assessment.
- Outline, coordinate, and monitor service schedules and levels.
- Coordinate freight movement, tracing, claims, and dispatch in the terminal area.
- Monitor freight movement to ensure maximum load factors and service levels to minimize claims.
- Maintain staff levels that ensure an acceptable level of productivity and performance.
- Oversee reporting and record-keeping on productivity, utilization, and service levels.
- Minimize the severity or frequency of accidents of contractors and employees through risk identification processes.
- Review sales activities and customer contacts.
- Conduct claim investigations and inspections; follow up with customers as required.
- Develop and lead training plans for employees.
- Ensure housekeeping, productivity, and quality of work standards are maintained.
- Manage inventory of tools and supplies to reduce risk, loss, and damage.
- Practice safe work procedures and ensure the team practices safe work.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Responsible for leading, managing, and supervising the terminal team.
Candidates' Experience: should include the following: working in a large commercial/industrial facility leading a team. Ideally, you have post-secondary education and a minimum of three years’ experience in general freight operations. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and manage critical and unplanned requirements. Strong interpersonal skills to foster and build working relationships with business unit leaders in addition to vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Competent ability and capacity to get the job done through a hands-on approach. Experience using all Microsoft Office programs. Working knowledge of WHMIS and the Health & Safety Act.
