1 FTE Contract to March 31, 2026

Thunder Bay Site

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking a 1 FTE Therapist, as a valuable member of the Community Health Centres’ team who will provide therapy, facilitate group therapy sessions, and promote optimal mental health and well-being for 2SLGBTQIA+ children and youth through a variety of programs and activities.

The position has a competitive salary, plus 4% vacation pay and the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan is an optional benefit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate degree in health or a social science related discipline.
  • Specific training in psychotherapy, with two to three years’ experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to be an effective team member as well as work independently.
  • Experience working with individuals in our community who face systemic barriers to accessing healthcare.
  • Demonstrated ability for problem solving, analysis, evaluation, implementation and follow-up of decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse clients with multiple concurrent problems and a variety of issues.
  • Ability to work with clients, both individually and in a group setting.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and software applications.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to socio-economic and cultural issues.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and ability to travel to other service locations.
