On behalf of our valued client, Ignite Technical Resources is seeking a Service Design and User Research Expert.

Summary of the Role:
We are seeking a Service Design and User Research Expert for a 3-month contract to contribute to user-centered digital initiatives. This role involves in-depth user research and usability testing to align project outcomes with user needs. The expert will support government efforts to modernize web platforms, improve usability, and implement sustainable practices based on external review recommendations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct qualitative and quantitative research using interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
  2. Utilize tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, User Testing, or Optimal Workshop to support prototyping and usability efforts.
  3. Ensure compliance with accessibility standards like WCAG to enhance inclusivity.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user insights into actionable design solutions.
  5. Contribute to modernizing the Province’s web platforms and improving sustainability.

Core Requirements:

  1. 5–10 years of experience in service design, user research, or UX for large-scale digital projects, preferably in the public sector.
  2. Proficiency in research methodologies and UX tools.
  3. Strong knowledge of accessibility standards and user-centered design principles.
  4. Demonstrated experience in large-scale digital transformation projects.
  5. Ability to work within PST hours, remote anywhere in Canada.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  1. Certifications such as UX Design Certification (Nielsen Norman Group or equivalent), Human-Centered Design (HCD), or Certified Usability Analyst (CUA).
  2. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to inform design decisions.
  3. Strong communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating with stakeholders.

Terms:
This is a 3-month remote contract role, with candidates required to work PST hours. Submission requirements include a one-page resume and two references. Selected candidates will work on initiatives supporting the BC Government’s Business Communication Solutions (BCS) Branch and related modernization efforts.
